I was thinking about getting a couple of Dwarf Neon Gouramis for my 30 and I was wondering what fish go well with them, any ideas?

Harlequin rasboras would go well, but so would lots of other fish...what are you interested in? A little more information (planted, not planted, catfish, topwater fish, midwater fish, etc.) would help.

I think it would be better to make of a list of what fish don't go well with gouramis. To name a few of those:
sometimes other gouramis
bettas
very aggressive fish

Any schooling fish that are not nippy. Sometimes more peaceful cichlids(occasionally doesn't go well). Pretty much any bottom feeder(cories, plecos, loaches... Yea there aren't many restrictions really. You just want to avoid fish that might nip their fins, other labyrinth fish(gouramis, bettas, paradise fish), and territorial agressive fish like most cichlids.

Well I dont have "real" plants but I have a good amount of cover and an excellent hide out for them. I have a Common Pleco right now and a random Giant Dannio that is being treated for Septicemia because of the crappy pet store I got him from. I am mainly intrested in peacful but lively fish that wont bother others and that may school together and preferably mid water fish that will swim in and out of my structures. I would like to get a Clown Loach and a Cory or two but I was just wondering what other fish go well with them, for example, what about: Red Eyes, or Giant Dannios?

I'm thinking giant danios might be a bit big and active for your tank but I've never kept them. I know my leopard danios bounced around like mad and kept stressing out my other fish so I refuse to keep danios ever again. A good fish if you want a very active hardy tank but might do better in a 4' long tank.

Loaches and cories are schooling fish and should be kept in as large of group as possible. Usually for schooling fish 6 or more fish are recommended but for loaches 4 is more often the minimum quoted. Clown loaches also get quite large eventually(12" is possible). There are however many smaller loach species that would get along well in a 30g. Yoyo loaches are my favorite and I had 4 in a 29g for the past 5years until I moved them to my 55 a couple days ago and increased their number by 2.

Well, how much are yoyo's going to cost me, how many should I get, and where do I get them because I've only seen pictures of them online. Also, what about Red Eye's I think they are cool. I also thought about getting Serpae Tetras...

Serpaes are nippy and will go after the feelers on gouramis. I don't know anything about red eyes and have never seen them here. Price for small loaches depends on your location but I've seen anywhere from $2-$8. You should look around and see what loaches sell where you are. I just suggest yoyos since they are one of my favorites but there are dozens of species of small loaches. In a 30g about 4 loaches is a good number somewhat depending on species. Kuhlis are going to be alot less active especially in small numbers so would be better with at least 6 fish while botia species like yoyos, queen, dwarf, skunk, and zebra, to name a few common ones, are extremely active and bounce around the tank constantly. They would do better with only 4 unless you want the whole tank taken over by loaches.

Well im gunna probably get 4 corys because I need them to clean my tank because of the septicemia "epidemic". But once I get my tank in order I might think about getting loaches. Also, I had a redeye and they seem calm and they are top-of-the-tank fish but you can look at them on this very website.

A quick search on any fish forum or google would have told you tiger barbs are the nippiest schooling fish possible. They tend to shred any tankmates that have long fins or aren't fast enough to get away. Not good gourami tankmates.

I just read from this site that I should get more. Which is good because I was going to get 8 of them and it recommends 6 atleast. I also was going to get 2 more gouramis.

Although I would not recommend it at all I have successfully kept tiger barbs with fish such as a male betta and gourami's in a 72 gallon. This was with 3 adult(2+ inches) tiger barbs that were in my possesion for a few years and I knew the temperment of. With those tiger barbs gone I would not do this again because most, and I stress this, tiger barbs will nip at other fish with long fins. So although it is frowned upon, it can be done.

What does that mean, Bob? "Till the cows come home." Where have the cows been?
