I have a 55 gal.
Seven Tiger Barbs. Two inches long.
One Kissing Fish, three inches long.
Seven Albino Corys, one to two inches long.
One of my Corys has what looks like a bruse (red) behind his gill on left side. His belly is very swollen.
This has just happened today.
His belly is so swollen he cannot feed. His mouth won't reach the sand. He still swims to the top for air but rare, and he seems to bounce when he comes back to the bottom.
Has the Kissing fish rammed him maybe?
Thanks
Subic

Kissing Gouramis are generally peaceful fish, and if they show aggression it's generally only directed towards other gouramis.

Your cory is probably just a female that is gravid. It will still be able to eat, even if its mouth doesn't touch the ground.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

None of those fish are in danger from a kissing gourami but the tiger barbs might decide to go after the gourami's fins. They are notorious fin nippers and gouramis being so slow with fairly large finnage are generally a favorite target.

I think kissers are generally pretty peaceful
amongst all fish except other kissers, there they
may be some squabbles.
Just want to mention that at some point you will need
to upgrade your tank size, as a Kisser will far outgrow
a 55g tank. They can grow to as much as 16 inches and
live a really long time, my uncle has a pair turning 24 this spring. They are 15 and 16 inches each and have spawned literally thousands of times in their lives.
He keeps them in a 110g tank.

I don't think that the Kissing Gourami attacked you Corydoras & i also think that it may be full of eggs & still capable to eat. Can you post a picture?.

Thanks all for your help.
The Cory was alive when I left for work this morning and dead when I got home.
The Kissing fish does and will push corys out of his way.

dont think it was him, but kissing gourami are one of the larger gouramies, and can be powerful.
