So after we got settled in, I started to do my WC's. Then I get to my 5.5 gal. w/2 of my girls. I drained about half the water, when I looked in the corner. I couldn't believe my eyes My oldest female Betta, Venus, had built her own bubble nest (which isn't so strange because she has done it before and actually posted it on FP)The only difference this time is that she released her eggs and actually placed them into the bubble nest I think it's really great, I just feel bad for her because, first off I didn't see it until half of the water was out, so I think i messed alot of it up, also she is guarding it intently, but i'm sure she doesn't realize nothing is going to happen. But what a site! Jessnick attached this image: |

As the female Betta isn't the one who attends the eggs under normal circumstances ---- one wonders how she even knew what to do - or how to do it???? So what do you think? Instinct or learned behavior or both? To thine own self be true... |

But with yours I wonder how she got the eggs out by herself.... :%) Anyway, it would surprise me if the female's eggs did hatch! Let us know if the do!!!! |
