betta fins | |
Crazy_Coyote Hobbyist Posts: 126 Kudos: 103 Votes: 17 Registered: 05-Sep-2005 | my betta is of show quality and i only bought it for 4 dollars and when i came to change its water one day i noticed that it had peaces of its back fin missing thir starting to grow back but will they be as beutifle as before, whay are his fins missing, could he have tried to eat them or somthing. i have had him for 1 year now and i have managed to turn him from store betta to show quality perfect colours, perfect size, perfect health, and until recently perfect and full fins |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | what is the tail shape? anyway when most fins get damaged, depending on the color of the fish, if the fish is lighter in color, chances are that the fin will grow back clear, but that isn't always the case, so i think it is a toss up. the damaged could have come from alot of things, what is in the tank, set-up wise/other fish/plants/ and also the tail shape plays a big part in this. show Q is tough, b/c there are many faults that can count against the betta, the color must be clean with no mask/wash in a given cat, the rays must be straight, and the most important thing i look for is the ablitly of the fish to holds its fins, which can be hard for long tail bettas. Crazy_Coyote Hobbyist Posts: 126 Kudos: 103 Votes: 17 Registered: 05-Sep-2005 | Its a long convex tail (long tail) perfect ray alignment won 1st place out of 70 in a contest of best betta at my LFS, i was planning on entering him in a bigger contest but now i dont know. P.S. his color is red, blue, and emerald green in other words his color is a reddish blue with and changes to emerald green in bright lighting. |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | then sry but that isn't a contest betta. veils aren't really alowed to be showed in betta contest(well the bigger ones) and the color is called a multy, basically it is a LFS mix of colors, but still lovely anyway. with the red/green with blue wash the fins should be clear at first, but with foods such as blood worms and shrimp will help the chances of the fins turning into red or blue or green. i would doubt a halfmoon would be 4 dollars but it can happen, try googling it to get some pics and then match it up to ur guy.
