betta idea.. possible? | |

They must be able to reach the surface for air, otherwise they will sufficate. They also need to be fed daily. Sticking any kind of a plant into a vase with a betta does not make it a mini eco system that is self sustaining. Depending on the size of the vase, you will need to do water changes. Once a week minimum with a vase that holds 1 gallon of water or more. More often in the vase holds less than a gallon of water. I seem to recall reading that bambo plants have extensive root systems and will need to be regularly trimmed. |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | adding one stick of bamaboo is ok. your don't have to do anything to it, but however in the photo i see u have a bunch of bamaboo. i would not recommend u put all of the sticks in there.2 problems 1)with all the sticks there will be alot of roots all over the place and hard for the fish to move. etc. 2)with all the sticks there doesn't seem to put that much air holes left in the vase. |

Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | Amano is now working with lucky bamboo in tanks, so its doable. Something like 5cm in the substrate, and 5cm above the water, and the rest was up to you. In that tank, and that much bamboo, could be tricky. |
