hi all

just wonderin would it be ok to keep a male an female betta in a 5 gallon tank on there own or will they fight???

In that small of a tank, they will fight. Even in a larger tank, the odds are vary good that they will fight.

Agreed, I would not keep a male betta in the same tank with any females unless you planned to spawn them. Even then, you could only add the female at spawning time, then you'd have to take her out before she was killed.

Absolutly not -.-

Two females perhaps, but not a male and a female... it would be as hellish, if not more, as putting two males together in a tank...

1 male and 1 female will fight, but 2 females should be ok. For best results, they should be from the same tank. Whether or not they fight depends totally on their personalities, so its basically luck of the draw. G/L

I wouldn't keep 2 females in anything less than a ten, as they too can become nippy and bully each other around.

Definitely not! My first male betta couldn't live with anything, not even corys, although he really only picked on the panda cory, not the pepper corys. strange
