I even used MS Word to double check the spelling on that, seems I can't even trust Microsoft anymore! Who knew! Last edited by $horty at 14-Feb-2005 16:30 |

$horty Fingerling Posts: 35 Kudos: 25 Votes: 22 Registered: 30-Jan-2005 | I second Daka - bettas should not be kept in a bowl. I don't think that any fish should be kept in a bowl, not even a large "fish" bowl. There is not enough room for them to really enjoy life in. They can survive, but you know.... life is much better with more room to play in! But that is just my opinion. |

Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | Bettas are the best fish for bowls because of their labryinth organ that allows them to breathe well without surface agitation. Guppies don't have that, so they really won't do very well in bowls. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

If you buy a male/female pair, you will definitely end up with a bowl crowded with fry. Even if you just get a female/females, there is a good chance that they are already pregnant. I'm not a fan of putting guppies in bowls, or any fish for that matter. |

Even though you can't filter or heat them, a betta can do okay in a bowl with routine water changes, if it's in a room where the temperature is prettty constant. A room where the temperature is constantly changing can trigger ick. Both my boys are in filtered heated tanks though... The most important thing to remember, it goldfish do not go in bowls...I repeat, DO NOT. -Ferret -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |
