bettas tring to breed, but there arnt any eggs? | |

This should be visible on the bottom of the female and look like a white tube sticking out. Does she look like she is full of eggs? A fat looking belly? These are signs she is ready to breed, if she is not showing either, it's likely she just isn't ready. Although IME i've noticed sometimes it can take several attempts before you will see any eggs. fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | well, i have bred bettas before, and yes, she has stripes, eggs, and oviposter, ect, but they got like 5 eggs so i seperated them back to their own homes, and i replaced them with my first pair of breeders, the female is way too fat and i wanted to keep the breeding bond between them strong, they are extremely gental and loving with eachther neither of them had a ripped fin when i bred them, so i put them in my rock tank, so they can live happily together and also get away from eachother for hours at a time, it is unlikely any fry will result (gravled bottom) but thats not the point |

fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | well, i switched them out with my firt bred pair, the female was HUGE!! with eggs , and it did take a few hours for him to be able actually wrap oround with her without her slipping out but boy has she grown scense they last bred i have many eggs in a huge nest *alot bigger than he built the first time* i left her in the tank, and they are both happy no nipped fins and although she is almost always hiding, im not worried, because in the caves it it very spacious, she still gets food, and dosnt seem stressed at allshe even picks on the loach in there who, thankfully after being rescued hasnt nipped anyone, and has claimed a territory, which is all he ever wanted i am very pleased with the results |
