bubbler? | |
melissamorris Small Fry Posts: 14 Votes: 0 Registered: 15-Feb-2005 | I read somewhere "I have seen bettas play endlessly in bubbles provided by a corner filter or air stone set on low." I heard somewhere else that very little current was best for Bettas. Doesn't the bubbler make current? Is a bubbler good or no? I have a 5 gallon tank, so I could put just a touch of bubbles off to one side - but only if it would be nice for the fish.... (That I don't have yet) Soon to get a betta, thanks in advance for the advice... Melissa |

If you are planning on filtering the 5, you could run a UGF or a sponge filter (the 2 most suited to longfinned bettas) and both of those can be done for minimum bubbles or minimum current or maximum, or somewhere in between you can tailor it to the fish |

One of my bettas doesn't mind the current in his 2.5 gallon at all, and continues to build bubble nests. My other betta in a different tank, hated the current and wouldn't build a bubble nest until I took the sponge filter out. He was really timid and shy but came out of his shell once the surface agitation was gone. You'll have to see, because it depends on the personality of the fish. You can always use a gang valve or something to tone the bubbles down if it's too much.
