It really depends on both the temperament of the betta as well as that of the angels.
To see a purple male, since Mr. Chiawcharn Chaisaeng's site isn't working anymore(or I can't get it to work), you can go to the following url and scroll down to 'Purple.'

I think that it is definately questionable. My experience with keeping an betta with an angel wasn't so good. I rescued a betta from a friend of mine and didn't really have a place to put him, so he had to go into a tank with an angel. My angel didn't like his presence one bit, and was always chasing and nipping. My betta stayed in a log, and wouldn't come out. He didnt stay there long, but it wasn't a nice interaction. On the flipside- my angel had always been in a tank by herself, so that probably had a bit to do with her temperment. I think angels love to nip flowy fins and skirts anyway. Are your angels housed with anything else, and how big are they?

yes and no but more toword yes:

it can be done, female bettas can be kept with most other fish with no problems,BUT it depends on the betta, like the males, females can be agressive, or mild toword other tankmates. what are the sizes of the angels. i wouldn't try with really young angels that are very fragile.

as for the purple betta, the link i don't agree with. that betta under purple apears to me to be a steel/copper. most "purple"bettas in a store are usually blue with red wash.i will try and find a pic of a purple betta, but i personally don't believe there is one. of course with dyeing(but that is a complete other subject that most people know my views) most likely the betta you saw was a steel blue like u said, but if you could buy it take it home for a pet, and take pics, but that is completely up to you, i will try and look for a pic of what i think is a real purple betta, but this will take a few weeks. so i will update when i find one.
