there is no subsition to live foods, but i have found that colorbits are very good in conditioning a female betta. ur betta may not eat that right away, but when they do it is very good. after about 4 days i have noticed a big round difference in my females.

I have found that earthworm flakes and Hikari sinking wafers are good for my ladies when live and frozen foods are unavailable

Earthworm flakes? Not sure I have ever seen those before. Got a brand, or perhaps a site for those? Thanks!

From memory it is Nutrafin Plus, purple and silver label, says earthworm flakes with tubifex (its got a few light grey squiggles in the pack, but its mainly flake.
