Hi,
I bought two gold dwarf gouramis yesterday. They are very timid and have spent most of the time in a corner behind driftwood. Do they need heavily planted tanks and lots of hiding places? I have one angel and some tetras which are completely ignoring the gouramis, so they are not hiding from the other fish. My tank is ~170 litres and does have some tall thick plants. Also they are hanging about near the heater. My tank is at 25 degrees celcius - is this ok? It may just be a nice hiding spot as my heater is behind the driftwood. Any help would be appreciated as i don't know alot about dwarf gouramis. Thanks!

I would suggest a lot of cover. Give them a few days to adjust.

my dwarfs are very timid, but they took several days to adjust to my tanks habitat. they sometimes hover in the thicker floating plants (plastic), but they do not seem to require it for their well being. they tend to ignore other fish, and if any bother them, they simply swim away.

wait a few days for your dwarfs to acclimate. after they are comfortable, you should be able to tell what they need to get along in your tank.

wait a few days for them to acclimate. I keep mine at 78 farenheit, along with red rasboras and a pleco, they all get along fine.
