Females can be just as aggressive as the males, but often they are a good deal calmer.

With long finned danios, its a bit of a punt, but you could certainly give it a try.

What size tank do you have? Depending on the amount of room in there, you might be able to add multiple girls. Just remember, their personalities can vary greatly, just like the males. Girls are generally much more tolerant, though.

i don't expect the danios to fight with the betta, because they are way too fast for her.
on the other hand, they might frighten her to death with their fast swims.
on the other hand, i'm not that savvy to say

if you decide on taking a betta afterall, be aware of the situation. if they can't get along and be happy with each other in a few days, get her out of there, and back to the store.

I could be wrong about this, but I think a 5gal. tank might be just a little small for a female Betta. I have just recently introduced one of my female Bettas to my 29 gal. community tank and although her transition was quite uneventful, I would think that a tank of your size really wouldn't give her many places to go with other fish in it. Just my opinion, I'm sure someone else will reply for you.Good luck

I agree with Nick. I don't think there is room for a female betta in a 5 if there are already fish in there. What are the fish in the tank? I wouldn't put a schooling fish, like danios, in a 5 gallon since there isn't enough room to swim, or support the bio-load of a school.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.
