tankie Fish Addict Posts: 857 Kudos: 848 Votes: 230 Registered: 15-Mar-2005 | well..it depends which gourami ur referring too...some..by colors..some...ifficult to determine, although males tend to have a longer, pointed anal fin. examining the fish with a light from behind highlights a female's reproductive tract....and as for age...thats i guess is guessing game. |

stariel Fish Master Posts: 1870 Kudos: 107 Votes: 13 Registered: 01-Feb-2001 | For the blue gouramis (including blue, opaline, gold) the dorsal fin is longer and pointed on males (ie comes to a point towards the tail end of the fish). This is an easy way to sex them BUT it can be hard to tell in younger fish. When the gouramis are under 2" sometimes the males have rounded fins like the females. |
