I had two gold gouramis, one died 2 weeks ago, and unfortunately lately the second one hasn't been very active either, kept hiding all the time and not eating, but i don't think it had fin injuries like the other one though, so i don't know why it died, i found it this morning. Maybe the guppies or the new platys have something to do with it? I found the first one dead 3 days after i bought a male guppy, a female and a male platy (who later died b/c of a freak accident). At that point i had a pearl gourami, a blue gourami and some female platies. This last gourami died 3 days after i got a female guppy, male platy and female betta. I could possibly blame the blue gourami, because it's not always very nice, but lately i haven't had her ( i think) chase the gold gourami. I don't think it's the water conditions either, because my other fish are fine (other than the platy freak accident). Could the two gold gouramis have had some kind of disease that didn't spread to other fish? When they were dead, they did seem kind of pale

I'm sorry about your Golds. I have had a couple pass away after being on the losing end of fights, even though the injuries didn't appear to be life threatening. I have had a case of popeye that seemed to be species specific, it wiped out my Cherry Barbs in a few days, but didn't affect any of my other fish, at least not before I spent $$ on antibiotics to treat the tank.
