gourami getting more aggressive | |
sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | My blue gourami was fine at first with a female paradise fish in his tank. As time goes on he's getting more and more aggressive. I added 2 dwarf blues and everything was fine untill 2 nights later he attacked one leaving me with an injured dwarf and one hiding. The 2nd dwarf hides all day and I never see him. The female paradise never leaves 1 side of my tank or she gets chased. The other tank I have set up was meant for more aggressive fish. It's a 29g stocked with my male paradise fish, johanni cichlid, and 4yoyo loaches. Should I try moving the gourami into that tank or will it be instant disaster between him and the paradise? |

I think your gourami resents other labyrinthfish, (maybe) and will fight with any that it sees. I would maybe trade in your blue gourami for another, or a gourami of a different type. |

But, so can Paradise fish.. if all heck breaks loose, I'd rehome the Blue Gourami. Could get a few Pearl Gouramis if you have room..in the peaceful tank. They are great community fish as long as no one harasses them. |

Scary how smart those fish can seem just the way they take time to look and process things. He eventually started chasing pecan around the plants but didn't stop him from coming out to eat. Hopefully with pecan being the biggest fish in the tank they'll settle down without any injuries. In the 55 everyone came out from hiding almost instantly. I added the injured dwarf back in since he's almost healed. They paired up and moved to the cave for awhile then started swimming around. The female paradise is happy to be queen of the tank now lol. |
