i have 4 gold gouramis in a 75g tank with assorted other peacfull fish. what i cant seem to do is get food to my dozen cories. i mean they get food but the gouramis go after everything i toss at them. im worried the gouramis are over feeding daily between the flake food and sinking food i give to the bottom feeders.

can they over feed to the point they get sick?
anyway to get food in there with out them noticing? ive tried everything and they just follow the cories to the food lol.

Have you tried feeding the cories at night? They are generally somewhat active after daylight hours (at least in my tank), while gouramis 'sleep' at night. Also, you can try feeding some of the larger wafers. The gouramis won't be able to steal or consume them from the surface or midwater, though the cories will be able to eat the wafers at their own pace.

The gouramis shouldn't get sick from overeating, because fish usually stop eating once they're full. Some of the more intelligent fish will consume food even when they aren't hungry, and shred it out their gills. This makes it so that competitors can't get food, which is a helpful trick in the wild.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

i feed the cories once during the day and once 2 hrs after lights out. and for some reason the dang gouramis are still awake 2 hrs after lights out and go for the wafers. the problem isnt they eat it so fast the cories dont get any. the problem is they "peck" at it causeing it to move constently. the cories cant keep up with it or chose not to fight over it im not sure.
