If I put a female betta in a divided tank with a male betta will they let me know when they want to mate and I should remove the female immediately??

not really, only because i have noticed that when u add a female and a male in a tank(given the female is untouchable) she will flare at him, or until she can get attack, almost like a taunt. they will breed if they get to see eachother or not, given the right condition and steps, and luck.
