He's pretty feisty and loves to flare at his reflection at the back of the tank. I also got a really pretty orange double tail (I think) female that I named Solange (Sun Angel) who I want to breed with Flame an orange male. (my first attempt) ~ Mae West |

Besides that they just have lots of cool names to browse... And even when I haven't found a good name there it's gotten me thinking so I was able to come up with a name I wouldn't have thought of if I hadn't looked at the site.. Hope that helps! kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | Hmmm... I have a few different ways to name my fish... My betta girls are named after greek goddesses (the Muses in particular). My males follow two different naming customs: "American Ideals" (I started out with Liberty and later added Life, Justice, Pursuit (of happiness) and Honor) and the inspired names. Some of the inspired names are Equity (he lived in my accounting office at work), and Feather (for the feathery markings on his dorsal fin). Poseidon, Triton, Nereus, and Proteus are a few names of ancient sea gods. (Yes, I love mythology.) The link provided above doesn't work for me, but there's a bunch of naming sites you can go on to search by meaning. *shrugs* Other than that, you could go and choose a name by color. Like, my sister has a blue betta named Sapphire. You could use names like Lapis, Azur (from Azurite), and other mineral/gem ba *shrugs* Lots of things to choose from... depends on which route you want to go. Do you have a picture? ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

melflisha Fingerling Posts: 38 Votes: 0 Registered: 18-Feb-2005 | Cool ideas Kitten - I like the thematic naming, though I've never managed to use it with pets. We used to name all our computer servers after goddesses.... in another place all the computers were wine and cheese names - in a third place (a school) the computers were named after teeny little countries and would have a little fact sheet about the country on the side - all of those themes had tons of really cool names in them. I fixed the link - it somehow had an extra space in it. Try it - it should work now. Melissa |

I think I'll go with Okeanos (a Titan)-god of the ocean. Thanks for the ideas! I'll post a pic of him and Solange when I get good ones. Last edited by doedogg at 07-Mar-2005 15:28 ~ Mae West |
