Well first are there eggs in the nest with the male? I have heard of females assuming the role of a male, even building bubble nests, although it's weird she built one one day after she bred. You would think she was a little beat up or at the very least tired. I guess not impossible though.

BTW another bit of advice I just recently read in another post is too make sure you don't turn the light off on your male Betta while he is tending to the eggs.

Please do let us know how the eggs with both parents turn out. Though I wonder if the eggs in the female's bubble nest would be fertile, if the male wasn't there to fertilize them as she laid them.

i had once a female who took the role. she spawned with the male and then starting fighting with him until he retreated. then she took over with the nest.(go figuregirl power!)n.e way she might just still be in breeding mode. give it a few days.

I would wait AT LEAST a week or two, maybe even three to breed again. It is better for them to have rest, and you will probably get better results. They need their rest.
