(not that i care. .5 gallons is too small for two bettas.) so i brought the kit home, set up the decor, and filled it up. i didn't have any dechlorinator at my grandma's house, so i let it sit so the chlorine could evaporate. after a few hours i put in some flake food so as to help start the cycle by providing the bacteria some food. Today, my mum and i went to wal=mart and got a stick-on thermometer, a net, some water conditioner (to remove copper), and some pH down. and a male betta and two ghost shrimp. i took them home, aclimated them, and now they're doing fine. pH is around 7.0, temperture is 76, the fish is swimming around, fins flared, having eaten the hbh pellets i put in. that was a few hours ago. they're still doing fine now. The betta's name is Dubya B., after the president. his main body color is silver with teal sheen and blue-green fins with red trim. he is very beautiful. the two shrimps are named Bubba and Gump. if only i could get a picture... Sounds good, and I'm glad to see someone who thinks that just because betta can survive in all but a thimble of water, that they don't have to. --tankster |

Were you planning on keeping the ghost shrimp alive? lol just curious since every time I introduce a ghost shrimp to my betta, he eats it I feed Piloy a ghost shrimp every few weeks as a treat, so I wouldn't expect YOUR ghost shrimp to last too long!
