This isnt a question or anything. But we bought a gold gourami with one eye about 3 years ago. There were no signs of a fight where he could have lost it, probley just born that way. Any way despite he dissability he does just fine, we have noticed that his ventral feeler on the side with no eye is quite a bit longer than the other maybe its due to lack of site on the one side so the longer feeler makes up for the no eye. just thought it was kinda cool.

well..any handicapped..usually remedied by another...like..a blind man...will have a sensitive ear for instance. in this case...ur probably right...its to compensate for the loss.

I currently have a PEARL GOURAMI blind of one eye. HE lost it when I medicated him with salt and acriflavine... He had a really stubborn finrot...

He's actually very happy and active. He uses his 'antenna hand' more the same side of the lack of vision... He's currently my second older fish at 2.5 years, just 1 year short of a BIG fantail goldfish that just died.

His name is "Manotas" (Bighands in english)... don't know why? His eating habits are a REAL MYSTERY: I haven't seen him eating the flakes... he seems to go to the surface when there's food but while aspirating water and flakes, he spits those! Whacko!

Anyway, he's been fine even with one eye. His only tankmates are a fantail goldfish and a dwarf gourami.
