i recently got a pearl gourami and i was just wondering if you could keep it w/ a 2 1/2in clown barb along w/ some nippy red-eye tetras. right now hes hiding in the corner and hasnt eaten yet, but im sure hes just adjusting. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

The Pearl Gourami are quite peaceful & quiet & i think that the Red Eye Tetras will try to nip him. They also take some time to adjust in a new tank.

surprisingly, my red-eyes are ignoring it but my most peaceful fish, my slender rasboras, nipped at my gourami. i havent seen the reaction of my clown barb towards my gourami, as my barb generally stays in the middle. my gourami is swimming around a bit, but whenever he gets scared, he runs all around my tank until he gets caught in some tall grasses.

My pearl took a few days and now is ruling the tank. Will even come to my fingers.

They are fine either alone or in groups. But you never want to mix two males together. They are a rather shy species and it will probably take a couple weeks for yours to not flee from you when you approach the tank.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Just be patient & give him time to settle. Try to stay away from the tank at feeding time & only look from a distance, so you don't disturb him.

do gouramis sleep on the ground at night? i turned on the light this morning, but i couldnt find him. then i found him behind a rock, laying on the bottom totally motionless. now hes at the top, more active than usual, so i think hes adjusted to the tank.

is it possible that he has internal parasites? hes still not eating (w/ me away from the tank), but hes being aggressive towards my white skirts, so hes not all that timid anymore.
