Changing the water in my female's bowl today (yea bowls suck... space crunch) when i was pouring her into a smaller bowl I use to house them when I do this. I still don't know exactly how it happened but she jumped into my kitchen sink which had some water in it, however I'd just washed my hands so it was soapy! She was only in it for a few seconds..

I know dish soap is deadly to fish so I was wondering how this might affect her. Crossing my fingers hoping this little stunt of her's won't bring her any harm.

Sorry to say this but you are (and more importantly - she is) very lucky if she survives a soap bath. The toxicity of the chemicals 'should' prove fatal..... sorry, I hope I'm wrong.

I had a male that jumped into a sink full of warm, soapy dirty dish water, I couldn't even see him in the sink, he was white and the water was white.. what a nightmare!

He lived though, but a couple months later he developped really strange symptoms and died. Maybe it was a lasting effect?

Keep her very clean and stress free, you never know!

I had one of my males jump into the sink, too... thankfully not full of soap, but he almost went down the drain! I was cursing at him as I managed to flip the strainer down into the drain and he landed in it. He was probably coated in leftovers from dinner and the remains of soap suds from dish washing (eww). However, he's been fine for months and is one of my healthiest betta boys. *shrugs*

conclusions:

1. betta girls have the ability to spot kitchen sinks and jump over there.
2. they have anti-soap mechanism

scientists still can figure out how they spot the sink so well.
