The betta would make quick work of any fish small enough to go in there. Things like guppies and endlers would work, if you had like one, but then they wouldn't be too happy, and your water quality would quickly decline. In a 3, there's just not enough room for more fish. |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | i wouldn't add anything to the tank, most people dont realize that long fin bettas aren't in the wild, so they really don't fit in with other fishes. if u were going to try, get a 5 gallon tank or larger and try something like a golden barb. but if u were to put a betta with something u have other problems to deal with it also. some bettas are more aggressive and others are more mild, with this the tank mates will have to be chossen carefully. |

If they're not expensive where you live you could give it a try. Otherwise I'd recommend the popular combination of betta and ADF. sirbooks Moderator Sociopath Posts: 3875 Kudos: 5164 Votes: 932 Registered: 26-Jul-2004 | It is possible. Some bettas love to eat shrimp such as ghost shrimp, while others will leave the shrimp alone. I wouldn't keep any more fish in there, but an African dwarf frog or an apple snail should be fine. |

SheKoi Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 553 Votes: 4 Registered: 11-Feb-2004 | in that size tank he's prob best left on his own, you could add an apple snail, or a few shrimps to keep any algae down. if you really want something with him, maybe few WCMM (white cloud moutain minnows).
