well, last night (well it started that after noon) my bettas were breeding, and i noticed, the male ate the eggs, and the female put them in the nest but i caught him putting about 5-6 eggs in the nest, her i saw her put in about 10, but those were the only time i saw lots of eggs in the nest i went to see them late last night, and i only saw 1 egg( and it wasnt even in the water:#( after some moor looking (and lots of bending) i found the second egg, i quickli grabbed my bubblenest syringe (the one i take donations for the breeders) and i suckedup the nest and the egg in the water, and put it into a small clear custard bowl i added some fugus meds that have the blue stuff and this morn the eggs r blue but not funguesd i wonder if the fry will be blue (if they hatch) and now im working on a yellow male and a double bar cambo might ger wierd fry but right now all i realy want is for some fry to live to maturity

i wouldn't think that it would change the color. i also had to artifical raise eggs, but i used siup containers lids, and found it to work better, then having a male take care of it.

Oh fishy:#(what a big meany they were]:|But, it sounds about right I hope the eggs make it and you get to raise some fry...best of luck, heidi

Oh and I think the air has something to do with the hatching, but I'm not sure, I know the infant fry (youngest, just hatched) need the bubble nest to help keep them afloat so that they can get the air to their not gills but the labyrinths? something like that, Ok Chris you explain ithml

really the nest is the males spit. this spit has been proven to cut down on infections.

not exactly sure why, but a few probable reasons are,
alows the male the keep track of the eggs, protects them. etc.

i'd not add these fry until they are roughly the same size.

well, some how the water evaporated:#( the eggies r gone but i doubt they would have hatched anyway im working with a yellow male, and a pastel female, hopefully this works, and im also cleaning up 2 10 gallons to have 2 maor pairs going and after i have the 3 spawns, the 3 breeding tanks will serveas grow tanks, so i can seperate 3 stages of growth (the extra tiny, the med/normal fry, and the fast growing fry) but yea, the eggs dident make it

i would guess that the yellow x pastel female will give you irovory colored bettas. i would use three different tanks only b/c when i tried using dividers, the babys found away to get around that.
