what gourami would be compatable with these tankmates? | |
Mia Hobbyist Posts: 86 Kudos: 79 Votes: 2 Registered: 20-Mar-2005 | I have a 75 gallon planted tank which currently has 8 black neons, 1 oto, 5 platys and some fry. I want to eventually have 8-10 panda corys, and 2 or 3 blue rams, and 8 harlequin rasboras. I was also thinking of adding some gourami's. So my question really is what kind of gourami's would be good? Also how many? a pair or 2 females and 1 male? Thanks |

They work. I would advise against two males of any gourami, they can get aggressive with each other. My opaline is a female and the dwarf flame is a male (most dwarf varieties for sale at the fish store are male because the females are pretty plain). Go with either a male and female full size (opaline, three spot, pearl) or one dwarf male. I may have to move my dwarf male, he's starting to get a little testy with everyone--including the platies. ]:| Last edited by crazyred at 10-Oct-2005 22:10 "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |

They are the largest member of the Trichogaster genus, making them the largest Belontiid as well. But fortunately, they are the most peaceful gourami you will ever find. I kept my 8" one with small Carddinals, and it didn't give them a second glance even though it could have eaten the entire school. In the wild they reach about 12" long, but in captivity, 6-8" is generally considered full-grown. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

They are constantly getting into dominance disputes with each other (most of which are very amusing to watch), and when I put sinking food in, they chase all the other fish away and hog it all to themselves. Odd...mine are one of the most peaceful fish in my tank. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

You should probably add a few more because they like to have friends. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |
