when do newborn betta fry realy NEED the wrap on the cover? | |
fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | when is it totaly nesessary? i had my bettas breed in a tank that is going to be their teritory, in the 10 gallon there is a loach, a darter, and my pair, no one bothers anyone, and the bettas have bred with no complications i dont even think any of the eggs got lost into the gravel but, im not worried about the fry, the father is goodand this time i dont want any weak fry, so thats where the bottom fish come in, if the father is going to let the fry fall, then they become weak, they usually die, if not soon after falling (from neglect) or in later life, i just lost the last of the runts yesterday (from their last breeding) the fry colors look good, they r going to be red cambos and one is even getting me here is a pic of the tank http://photobucket.com/albums/v300/fishyhelper288/?action=view&current=DSCF2520.jpg here is a pic of the father http://photobucket.com/albums/v300/fishyhelper288/bettacontest/?action=view&current=a8dcb656.jpg a pic of the mother, she is the one stairing at the camera, next to the other female betta that is showing a side view http://photobucket.com/albums/v300/fishyhelper288/my%20favorite%20fish/?action=view&current=DSCF2175.jpg hmm, and i guess thats it Last edited by fishyhelper288 at 10-Apr-2005 16:33 |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | umm still dont know the question, but if it is the one in the title then, from when they are hatched, first off one should never bred bettas in a comunity tank. the setup for the breeding is wrong also. gravel shouldn't be in a breeding tank. but from aside that the missing venterals were probably caused by the wrong ph in the tank. |

fishyhelper288 Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | , its not an intended breeding tank, i realy dont care if i get fry, i just wanted them to comfortable enough to d oso, and great news the male and female take turns caring for the nest the male will go off in search of food, or patrool the territory, and the female with gaurd it , and rebuild lost bubbles i did see eggs yesterday, but teardrop had a bad habbit of stuffing the eggs way up in the nest, but im so happy and i do like my setup, and its not gravel under the nest, there are 3 flat rocks together directly under the nest, and they look set to breed again i have only heard of this in cichlids but i guess im just lucky and i just had 3 female guppies give birth at the same time in the fry tank wow pearly (a pearly pink betta with dark pink spots)is going to be stuffed (also a semi breeding tank for guppys, some 2-3 fry are put in a net, the others get to fend for them selfs) btu no sign of betta fry as of yet, i think when i get home i guess i will put the plastic in place, and i heard that i can do this from a betta breding book, that u can leave the pair together, and leave the fry too, as the fry grow, the pair will breed in the same tank, with the older fry, and its said that the pair shouldent eat the entire batch, andif they do, well, they will breed again i think it said that they would breed every 2 weeks, or somthing along those lines |
