The line still needs some work color wise, but that gives you something to strive for. The second pair needs a lot more work with all that red wash. The first pair IME when buying bettas with those me |

Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | $15 for shipping? There's no way you'll get that. I payed about $40 for shipping. They charged $10 more for the actual shipping than was on the sticker on the box. The transshippers also include taxes, etc. They charge shipping and handling fees, as well as box and heat pack fees. Most won't ship priority, which is what you were thinking of, I assume. Sorry to burst your bubble hun, but bettas from overseas aren't cheap. My shipping could have costed more than the bettas themselves. Because that is the case, I think it is better just to wait until you see the ones you REALLY feel good about investing in. There isn't a way to get good bettas cheap, really. I think the total will come closer to $70. I wouldn't feel good about purchasing any of those pairs for that amount. Sure, you could get offspring, but those parent's genes are the ones in them. *shrug* Your choice though. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

I've seen some really beautiful Bettas on Aqua Bid myself --- but have always shied away from those that have the additional cost which is not stated in the actual auction, but instead is merely stated there will be a higher price when all is said and done... So I'm rather curious.... I've heard that transhipper's can charge anything that they want to -- and that I should be extremely careful of this hidden cost when purchasing.... The Blue Betta USA site also speaks of their being the alternative to high import costs.... So, how are these costs determined? --- And what is the average transhipper cost? To thine own self be true... |

Shannen Banned Posts: 1160 Kudos: 1686 Votes: 98 Registered: 17-Feb-2004 | no Chris, in real life the blue black most likely will not be blue black. My best guess would be it is a copper melano with blue wash, this blue only shows up under intense lighting. I have spent well over 400 bucks on fish that look like this in a picture only to received a copper variation that had none of the color in the webbing as shown in the picture. Bettas are a fish who me Bottom line, there is a warning here. Do not buy that fish without sending an email to the breeder and force him to tell you exactly what the fish looks like. I know this breeder by reputation. I'm sure he will answer your questions. |

kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | Hmm... I like the blue on the first pair, very striking coloring. However, I, too, would be wary of the hugeness of the female. Plus, the rays aren't terribly even in the male. The second pair probably has the best fins... seem very even and the coloring is lovely in the male. The female's coloring isn't the best, IMO. I've had girls with the same type of coloring and it's much more vivid... However, as someone mentioned, me I personally like the color of the third pair, but then, I'm a sucker for the lighter colors. The male's fins are impressively huge, but not perfect, however, I'd think with breeding, that could be improved upon. However, I've never bred bettas, so I can only guess at that. I think your best bet is probably the second pair, if you're looking to sell them. However, I'd have to say that I'd personally wait around to find different pairs if you're intending to sell them. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

Janna Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 | I say Pair #2. The first pair male's fins are just a delta tail. The rays aren't the even either. In #2 it is a superdelta. Besides, if you want to sell on aquabid and such, red and copper superdeltas sell for much more than black with blue wash deltas. #3 I wouldn't even really consider. Maybe it is the picture, but again, the tail spread isn't that impressive at all. The coloring isn't either. I think it really depends on what you're breeding for. Fun, aquabid, LFSs, etc. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

Stormy Big Fish Posts: 357 Kudos: 606 Votes: 81 Registered: 13-Mar-2004 | I think I would have to go with the first pair daka. Only thing I would be worried about with the first pair is that the female is ENORMOUSLY full of eggs, and some people on here have had problems with eggbound CTs in particular! Makes it a little hard for me to vote for the first pair to be honest. The other thing to consider daka is that I was there when you first started considering this last night. Your first impulse was the first pair. There was never even mention of the other pairs. You knew what you wanted then, and I think you still do! Go with your instincts! I'd go with the 2nd pair though, mainly because I'm very partial to copper bettas. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |
