Doesn't quite sound like a mustard gas (at least, the black bit doesn't). Take a look at [link=this site]http://bettas.fishjunkies.com/colors.php" style="COLOR: #00A0AE[/link]... down the page a bit shows some good examples of mustard gas and blue mustard gas.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

Thanks for the link, Kitten.
I never knew that there was a colorization called mustard gas and now, it seems that I have a blue mustard gas betta. All this time, I'd just been calling him blue and gold.

that is a realy crummy pic btw

but it does look similar, but i cant tell by the pic, it isnt clear enough

EDIT: i just took a closer look at him, and now that he is fully colored up, it isnt black, its more of a brown, so remeinds me of the chocolate, mustard gas i saw on aquabid a while back, but im still going with mustard gass, because his fins are trimed in the blue/green, just like the description

well, mr.mustard, is a happy boy he already has a huge bubble nest...well, 2 im thinking about maybe breeding him soon, if he gets a real nice nest, i might add a white female in there, curious as to what they woud make i would just put some slate down under the nest or something, maybe clear the gravel from under it, and before they breed maybe just remove most of the gravel, and after they breed, or hatch, just lower the water level, and add some saran, but if he seems to aggressive tords a female in a tank that size, i'll just wait for the 20 gallon, sound like a plan?, and everytime i looks at him, i become more, and more sure that hes a mustard, maybe if i can figure out why my comp wont let me load pics on, i can start uploading some pics to show ya? that should clear it up, weither or not he is a chocolate mustard

*technically* MG is a strain name belonging to Jude Als (Uncle Junkin) but it has come to mean anything bluey with yellow fins

Its just a blue/yellow bi-colour, but MG is easier.

Fishyhelper, sounds like what you have is a chocolate with a blue metallic overlay. I heard someone refer to it as a 'false MG' the other day, and I think it suits it, as although the colour is similar, it is from quite a different genetic background.

i rely dont care too much about what he REALY is, but he quite an attention hog now when ever he sees me, he saunters up to the front glass and starts his begging for food, and his buble nest continues to grow! it is about l-----l thick so far, and he is constantly building there isnt any eggs in there, but he takes much pride in his nests, i will take plesure in breeding him what would be a good color female for him to breed with?
