Males are much more likely to fight than females. To be honest though, I think it would work. Usually gouramis will only fight with other gouramis of the same species, and you are mixing it up. Also, they would have enough room to avoid each other. Be warned though, some three-spot (otherwise known as blue) gouramis have fighting in their blood. The pugilistic ones will go out of their way to destroy other fish. If you still want a blue, go down to your lfs and observe the tank that they're kept in. Pick out one that is leaving the others alone (aka not fighting), and go with that. It's pretty much hit or miss. Good luck! |

When you buy them try to buy them of the same size, and the younger the better. That way they will grow up accustomed to each other, and they are less likely to fight when they are young. |
