well, she picked her man, and mated a little more than 24 hours ago, and the eggs have hatchedand i only saw 1 fry start to fall, and it dident need any help getting back up strong little buggers already the mother is a black and red DR crowntail, the father is a royal blue (no red wash) SR crowntail, both walmart bettas, now, i just cannot wait till they can become free swimming, and i can move them to the fry tank (they better hurry)

Congradulations, on the new little fishies!
I just bought another male betta a few days ago, just a regular veil tail, but a pretty red with purple.
Keep us up to date on the little ones.

Good going. Id like to know step by step what you did to breed YOURS and what you added to the water, if anything, to care for the eggs.

You actually answered a question Id been wanting to ask. I read on a website dedicated to betts that you most likely couldnt and really shouldnt breed pet store or LFS bettas. I knew everyone that bred them couldnt be buying them off line from a betta bredding place!!! I knew she had to be wrong. She actually pleaded with people on the site NEVER to breed LFS, pet store bettas.

if u say the stock i carried, u would be amazed
i have a 4 ray crowntail and everything that i got from walmart!

but i have bred betta several times, this will be my 3rd or 4th spawn with fry resulting i have 1 fry from my first sucessful spawn, 1 fry from the second, and now i have one from this spawn cant wait till next season

all i did was float her in a clear betta cup for a couple weeks with 1 male, i relased her with him, but he just wasnt what she was looking for, so i switched him out for a blue crowntail, which is the father btw and after a few tries of releasing her, i realized that she would be able to hold her own just fine if i just left her....another week or 2 goes by, and i see that she is terribly chewed up but, they r spawning

i dident add anyhting to the water though..not realy...

i had some sand on the bottom, covered in black lochast tree leaves, some live plants, and then i fed them exclusivly on live food, i used misquito larve from a hatchery i had, after i was finished using the larve, i just dumped the water in the bin out..... but with adding the larve, they also got some rain water, so the ph, probably lowered too)

bah, providing you have good healthy fish, there is no good reason not to breed them providing you have plans for them after they are grown. if that means oscar-food, so be it, but just make sure you have a plan. nothing worse than sparring males and not having a clue where to put them!

I have bred pet shop bettas, and pet shop bettas to imports etc. I had larger, healthier spawns from the pet shop fish than any of my import x import fish, and what good is a fancy fish if it just drops dead?

Glad all went well FH
