I have a 55 gal that I am setting up that currently houses a clown pl*co and 1 marbled mollie. I am wanting to keep with a livebearer theme does anyone have any ideas for stocking my tank. The tank is fully cycled and up until recently housed a pair of convicts and silver dollars that I have given to a friend in the hobby.

Guppies, swords and platies.... three species that will breed like crazy for you (the swords and platies with each other!!) Lots of colour and movement and if you don't want to raise the fry, it makes great live food for the others.

I like guppies and platies. If your looking for a lot of color in both female and male, platies are great. I love guppies, but the females tend to drab. Both are very prolific.

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

I like the platy idea. I have kept these fish many years ago and loved their activity and variety of colors. This is the direction I think I'm going. Thanks for the ideas.

Platies are a good choice They're active, have good personalities, and there are quite a few color variations available.

What else do you plan to have in the tank?

If my tank I would be adding the livebearer and some Cories for the bottom, about 8 Cories. I would then add a school of Tetras or Danios or Barbs such as Cardinal Tetras or Giant Danios or Cherry Barbs, maybe even 3-6 Denison Barbs (also known as Red Torpedos).

Well the size of the tank has diminished. I am going to house a jd nad a firemouth in my 55 but plan on using a 29 that my mom gave me. I still appreciate the ideas and will just fit the scale to the 29.

Go with 3 Swordtails, 1 male, 2 females. A school of 6 Cories then a school of mid water fish like a Tetra or Danio.

3 Neon Swords (1m/2f)
3 Black Swords (1m/2f)
3 Velvet Swords (1m/2f)
8 Congo Tetras (3m/5f)
6 Black Tetras (2m/4f)
6 Lemon Tetras (2m/4f)
I think that this would make an active and stunning setup.
