Albino Guppies | |
Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | These are now the same price as standard guppies in my area. I'm wondering what you think about having a trio or 2 pair in a 3 gallon upright unheated tank. I also have access to black tuxes and yellow snakeskins, but i'm undecided. |

I usually try to end up with a pair to a fivesome in a half ten gallon breeding tank. That is two sets of breeders per tank. The temperature will change faster in the unheated three. I guess that if the room stays at 75F it will not matter. max |

Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | I'm half expecting a drop to 68* in some days over winter, which i used to keep 'mutt' guppies at, and they seemed quite content, however i'm unsure how the fancier strains will handle this... |

guppymax Hobbyist Posts: 77 Votes: 0 Registered: 25-Dec-2004 | With good management you can get three generations of guppies per year so you can make substantual improvements in three or four years. To know what good guppies are worth you have to figure out what your time is worth. Do you really care what they look like? How much? max |

Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | Mango has the time, and the space, and the inclination i think I'd prefer to buy a good strain to start with, but thats simply because very very shortly we are going to have the fancy guppy fad upon us, and the market will be flooded by cheap imports. So unless you are breeding decent looking fish, the only option other than keeping them will be giving them to a fish shop, where the quality of homes cannot be vetted. I'm still of 2 minds if i want to try this, as its really just another thing with a big tail to juggle I'd LIKE some guppies again, but maybe now isn't the time for me. Conditions aren't right. I might just leave the tank empty. |
