theve said the same thing ive already said about the green water...which daphnia would naturally feed on in the wild.. i dont work for any companys im disabled so i read a lot on the computer ive always just hatched out brine shrimp and fed them to my fish but theres so much tech out there now you wonder how to make a acclaimed (best food)better?is how i ran across the hufa enrichment products they use in fisheries to grow them up faster because their useing target species like daphnia, brine shrimp, and rotifers for this to use to feed those fish so thell have a higher survivor rate amung fri hatches.. ive been interested myself in this as i havent tried it yet but would like to know if any one has for their aquarium fish?and did you notice any differences?

but i think you can use gallon jugs and just culture them in those especially if you just get a single culture pack http://www.livefoodcultures.com/Daphnia.html and if you have extra gang valves just run a airline into it when the culture gets big enough start another one with the ones you have from the first batch in another gallon jug untill you get as many as you want or need

theres a lot of cultureing tips out there on the net..ive been looking into them..but one of the most common ways to feed daphnia is to let some water sit in a window sill with some lettus (spelled wrong)and wait a few days so your getting green water to feed to the daphnia..ive been looking into products like sperluna flakes and also huffa enrichments to gut load these critters so my fish will get the benifit carried onto them.. only other thing ive came across is some yeast water to feed them but i dont feel like yeast would be the best target food to feed to your fish

Dang it!!! I was hoping I could get some culturing tips on those critters. I have only gotten general information on them, ei temps water, conditions. I was thinking about using an empty 10gal to culture them, but the costs dont seem worth it. Plus, I would have no idea what to do with them on vacation.

Ok, I have been raising molly fry for a while, and they take a long time to grow. I was just wondering what food will help them grow the fastest. I'm guessing bbs, but i don't know.
Thanks in advance,
Sundewd

I usually boil up an egg and then use the yolk, just rub a little bit between you fingers, or the other option is to use pes out of the shell, again just rub it between your fingers.

First few days with Liquifry, then just feed them crushed flakes.

I use the liquid fry food at first with my platy fry... then went on to crushed flakes. Although we discovered that the ones born in our main tank were growing tons faster than the ones in our nursery tank... the temp was higher in our community tank. So, with a different of 3 degrees in temp, one batch of platy fry in the community tank was 1 month old and twice as big as our 2 month old fry in the nursery tank... so we gradually upped the temp for the nursery and our fry now grow quicker. Just my experience but I thought i'd share.

HTH,
Beth

For my livebearers I use First Bites but find it's only necessary for a day or two.

After that I feed my own mix like Sneaky_Pete:

tropical flake
shrimp pellets
spirulina flake
freeze dried blood worms

Easily ground into a fine powder then I store it in a covered plastic container. For feeing I mix a bit with water and feed with a small dropper.

I feed my platy and guppy fry on a food I make myself. I mix whatever foods I have around to make a rich, super food for fry.
Heres what I usually add:
Tropical Flake
Brine Shrimp Flake
HBH 8 Veggie Flake
Shrimp Pellets
Algae Wafers
Bloodworms or Nutrafin Red Grubs
Tropical Slow Sinking Crumbles
Tubifex Cubes
I put it all in a bowl and grind till its powder, then feed my fry solely on this food until they move from their fry tank to their Adult tank.
I think this is much better than feeding fry on one single food, as this is an amalgamation of many foods. Makes for quick fry growth and healthy fry overall.

I'm not really sure if it excelerates growth... but I started out my platy fry on "First Bites".... then down the road added BBS & flakes.... Fed them 3 times daily on a rotation of food....
If my lfs was correct, feeding fish only one type of food isn't as healthy as a varied diet --- So you might want to consider this.....
Good luck with your babies!
