Confused guppies? | |
kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | Just thought I'd share something I saw recently... thought it was rather funny. I just rearranged some of my stock... I had a 12 gallon tank with danios, male guppies and a male betta. While they seemed to be getting along well enough, I was beginning to see a bit more aggression than I'd care to, so I took out the betta. I replaced the one betta boy with three small betta girls. The tank is MUCH less aggressive. No one really bothers anyone else, though the girls are setting up a hierarchy, as is normal. Anyway, sexes in the tank are as follows: 3 golden zebra danios (2F/1M), two male guppies and three female bettas. Although the guppies have never shown interest in the danios, oh MY did they like the betta girls! They danced and preened before those girls... my goodness... a female guppy would probably be having heart palpitations at such a display! (And if I do say so myself, they are very nice looking males with quite large tails.) It was amusing, because the betta girls were all like, "Uh... what ARE you doing?" The girls ignored them, the guppies danced harder, thinking to win them over... absolutely hilarious! I think that now, they've settled down, but the first week the girls were in the tank was quite amusing. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

If I had the room, I'd gladly try breeding them, but I don't, so phooey. *sigh* I need a mansion. And fish rooms. Many fish rooms for all the things I want to do! ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
