Considering getting a few. | |
FishKeeperJim Big Fish Member MTS Anonymous Posts: 348 Kudos: 208 Votes: 186 Registered: 09-Jan-2007 | I have a Ten Gallon that will be empty pretty soon, and I would like to restock it with some Live Bearers. What would work well, and how many can I put in. I am planning to add a couple of Ottos for Algae Control and will most likely have a Betta in there as well. Nothing to large though as I would like a small school. Ideas? mts.gif" border="0"> I vote do you? My Tanks at Photobucket |

Unless you can find something real small like the Endlers, everything else gets too big IMO. The common Livebearers like platys and mollies will not be comfortable in a 10 gallon. Another reason is that the livebearers will quickly overpopulate the tank (Guppys) unless you get only one sex. I think alot of folks will tell you the 10 gallon really limits you on what you can stock. Later! "Talk is cheap. Action can be almost as affordable" |

The tank will never produce enough algae by itself for that many. The 3 I put in my 29g had it spotless in under a week. Now I put in an algae wafer every 3 days. You can use Wardley or Hikari they seem to like both. There are also others that feed them regular veggies like zuchinni and peas. 29g - 5 Head and Tail Light Tetras, 1 Black Phantom Tetra, 1 melanistius cory, 1 Featherfin Synodontis, 1 otto 29g - 14 harlequin rasboras, 5 albino corys, 3 ottos 10g - 1 glowlight tetra, 2 Black phantom tetras, 1 red betta on entertainment center |

Ottos often dont take to artificial diets well and you can do without the pollution of chunks of vegetables in a 10 gal. |
