Since guppies and mollies are so likely to hybridize, I was wondering if the same was likely for Endler's and sailfins, either P. latipinna or P. velifera.

Thanks!

Guppies and mollies can, and guppies and Endler's can, but I don't think that mollies and Endler's could just because it would be a near physical impossibility for them to mate.

It would be like trying to breed a Great Dane with a tiny Yorkshire Terrier. Genetically it's possible, but it would be nearly impossible for them to successfully mate.

I agree, i dont think they would be able to mate. A male MIGHT be able to get a female pregnant. But that really is pushing it i think. I have never even had my guppies try to cross with my mollies. Or vice versa, and ive kept the two together quite alot in my nine years of fish keeping. Might be worth trying.

K, danke. Of course, it would have been easier for me to resist the Call of the Sailfins if you'd all said no.

And I assume Swords aren't a likely hybrid candidate with Endler's either?

It is impossible for swordtails and Endler's to produce offspring together, as they are not closely related enough.

That's what I figured, just wanted to triple-check. Thanks.
