I was in my LFS and saw some amazing platys that were as red and pure. After reading about all the dyed fish has anyone ever heard of dyed platys?? they had two different tanks of red coloured and of course One tank was brighter and a little more. It was a big als and I forgot to ask before i left but big als doesnt carry dyed fish ever do they??

There are many varieties of extremely red livebearers that bred naturally. The fish you saw most likely were not dyed.

it could be enriched color from feeding, but most people wouldn't waste their time dying platyies.

Most fish that are injected with dye are bright blue, green, and pink. Some fish are naturally that way though.... I think a pink platty would scare me....

Yah they had one tank of platy about same as real dark goldfish they looked pretty good but this other tank was just that much brighter didnt figure anyone would bother dying platy but heh who knows

Generally speaking, platies are not dyed, only fish that are transparent. Purple is another popular dyed fish color.
