angeleel Fish Addict Posts: 561 Kudos: 472 Votes: 61 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | That started from being prego..... only in the last week or two it started. The last time these two had babys they didnt have the spine but that can come as to having babys. As well for the last time they didn't look as big, thats why it has me in a worry. One started that nose dive swim in the last two days, does that mean she is close?? I have done a slight water change everyday, and have the temp one degree higher then normal should I raise it a bit more now?? Well thanks for the help Angel Eel |

When they sink to the bottom and try and hide, it's close. Just keep doing what you're doing, only time will tell. As for the spine, i've never seen a fish do that when they were pregnant... she'll probably be like that after birth too, but only time will tell. Just try and ease stress on her with hiding spots to make her feel comfy, and also for fry to hide in |

angeleel Fish Addict Posts: 561 Kudos: 472 Votes: 61 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | I read in a few sites that old female livebearers will sometimes after many fry births will get a spine bend, I don't know if its true I did see one of my old swordtails get a bent spine after like 7 batches. I never seen it with the endlers though.. Any help on this? Angel Eel |

Do not perform tank maintenece on that tank if you have any cuts on your hands etc. Koi Keeper ps. ditto everyone else just really pregnant and needs somewhere to hide, some java moss or whatnot. She'll be dropping fry soon. Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn. |

If you want to keep the fry see if you can catch them and put them in a plastic container that you float in the tank. It may not be ideal but at least they'll be safe. I have a hybrid cichlid fry in a setup like this, I just took this pic to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. I have tank water in there, a bit of gravel, and some tiny floating plants. He gets fed 3-4 times a day and I have to do daily water changes to remove leftover food and waste. Good luck Theresa_M attached this image: edit: didn't notice the curious platy fry until after I posted this Last edited by Theresa_M at 25-May-2005 12:30[/font] ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | Congratulations on the new babiesNew fry are always fun I usually add Anacharis plant some and float some...the fry will hide in what is floating, and be able to swim, when that time comes in what is planted...helps keep them safe so they can hide... And I agree none of my livebearers have been big on eating their fry:%)and I have to admit at times it would be nicebut, sometimes the first batch or two can be eaten, and then after that it's like the mother says, forget it just get away from me KTS and her family has figured that one out when Sunshine gave birth this weekend and now there are round about 30 fry swimming around...apparently dad put momma into a birthing net thingy and she gave up and bailed out of the net not wanting to be in there any longer Congratulations...heidi EDIT: to feed them, just take your normal flakes and grind them in a ziplock bag to dust, and sprinkle lightly...hml Last edited by houston at 25-May-2005 21:48 "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom."
