angeleel Fish Addict Posts: 561 Kudos: 472 Votes: 61 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | I think I need to explain, I have had One female Endler for about A year now and is one of my main breeders. Just a few days ago I noticed her tail fin is turning into the male type back fin. With the swords and colors, Thing is shes Prego!! Thats why I am so worried, Is she turning into one of my males.... I have never seen this before in Endlers, I have seen it in swordtails though. I wish I could take a picture but i cannot find my install disk for my cam =\ Its very odd, and she is a pure endler, according to all the info on Endlerrus.com she even has the gold tinge. Could this even be a water thing, I know temp has something to do with what you get from fry male or female. Could this be it? Sorry, I have a bad habit of not explaining myself...... *bad girl* Angel EEl Last edited by angeleel at 03-Nov-2005 11:06 |

If I understand, your females' tail is changing shape or color ? "Thats why I am so worried, Is she turning into one of my males...." - honestly I will admit I am not experienced with Endlers, but know their close cousins the guppies and platys well. I do like endlers though, very nice little fish with their neon colors. Swords and platys can change from female to male. This occurs when there are no other males around. I've never seen or heard of it in guppys or endlers. The pure female endlers look to me to have no color and resemble plain non fancy female guppies. It's quite possible she has inherited some color thru her parents, which will show more as she ages. This means though, that when she spawns, it's a higher chance that your females may have more color ! Could be a good thing "Could this even be a water thing, I know temp has something to do with what you get from fry male or female. Could this be it?" - PH can affect the female/male ratio of newborn fry only, temp is not a factor. Higher ph water tends to produce more males with most livebearers, as well as some eggla "*bad girl*" - Alrighty then.... I hope this was some help for you. Good luck with your prego female Regards, DaFish Last edited by DaFishMan at 04-Nov-2005 10:17 The Amazon Nut... |

If she does pass this color on it will be soo nice. Thanks alot I was really worried. Also thanks for strighting out the temp thing for me, I didn't realize that it was Ph not temp... =p Thanks Angel Eel |
