Endler debate, how do you know. | |
pookiekiller12 Fish Addict Posts: 574 Kudos: 633 Votes: 41 Registered: 13-Apr-2004 | How do you know if you are getting TRUE endler's. Even if you catch them wild yourself, how do you know that is exactly what they are? Is there a very reputable source? I would like to devote a tank to them, but I can only find males, and with how this forum insists that almost no one has real Endler's, how is one to know? Are there color variations in "true" Endler's? Are offspring of guppies and Endler's sterile? Thank you for any answers or opinions given. All information that I can get on them indicates that they are a different "race" of guppy, not a different species. |

If it's mostly green/orange, it's an Endler's. Endler's also tend to have more black coloration. If you found it in a feeder guppy tank, don't count on it being an Endler's, or at least not a purebred one. Of course there are exceptions to this, but it's just a general rule that I find to be pretty accurate most of the time.
