Endler's Livebearer?? | |
OldTimer Mega Fish USAF Retired Posts: 1181 Kudos: 1294 Votes: 809 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | As I'm fairly new to this site and until recently only have began to become very active in the hobby (again) and get back to research and reading I'm a bit confused as to what Endler's are? They look luck a wild strain of the common guppy Poecilia reticulata. Is this correct, or is it an entirely different species? They sure don't look much different than those that were available as wild guppies back in the early 70's when I first started keeping fish. Any enlightenment would be appreciated. Jim |

I've found them to be hardy, they'll accept anything in the way of food, males are about an inch long with females being a bit longer, they don't eat their fry. They will interbreed with guppies which most breeders of Endler's-like myself-try to discourage. I've printed them off and will hopefully have time to start reading up on them later. Not positive if I'll attempt to acquire some, but will find out after reading the material, and I was really curious and wanted to get as much info as possible. Thanks, again Jim |

This is one of my adult males, a juvenile male and an adult female. It shows the size difference between the sexes well.
