Endler's Livebearers | |
Brian1216 Hobbyist Posts: 97 Votes: 0 Registered: 28-Apr-2005 | I saw some Endler's Livebearers at my LFS recently and i thought they looked pretty cool. Can anyone tell me about these? Are they artificially dyed? Do they like to be kept in groups or pairs? Thanks. |

They may actually have originated as wild guppies, but since they're isolated in their natural habitat (a few small ponds) they diverged and are now considered a different species. As for keeping them, they're pretty much just like guppies. A group is fine, more females than males. Expect prolific breeding like guppies. They stay fairly small (mine never got much above an inch for males, maybe max 1.5" for females) like wild or "feeder" guppies do (i.e. not fancy guppies). Mine did really well, till the stupid heater in the tank flipped out and went bizark]:| Oh and I think it's been answered, but no they are not diedaren't they beautiful:&D heidi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well boy meets girl and it's a good bet Girl's gonna play a little hard to get But they both got the same thing on their mind Ain't that the way that the world goes round ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." They do appreciate plants in the tank and temps a bit higher. Keep a minimum ratio of 1M/2F, 3F would be even better. Not fussy eaters, and they normally don't eat their own fry. Since they are believed to be extinct in the wild, please don't keep them with guppies as they can crossbreed.
