Does anyone know of any place to get some Endler's in Manhattan? I have really wanted to get a few of these little guys but every store I've gone to seems to be unable to find any. Or does anyone know of a good place to buy them online? I would love to have males and females. Thanks.

buying online will rip you off BIG TIME. The store that I go to sells them for 15 cents each. do a little more searching around!

I've got a fever... and the only prescription... is more cowbell!

KMLubahn6609,

do you mean that you found a store in Manhattan that sells Endler's for 15 cents? that would be incredible if you did. if so, where is this store? thanks.

Are you sure, about the fifteen cent thing, that you're not getting feeder (wild-type) guppies confused with Endler's? Unless marked as Endler's specifically, fish that look sort of like them in pet stores are, basically 100% of the time, feeder guppies. Wild-type guppies look rather like pale Endler's, sometimes with more blue, with a bit more variety in their patterning, and, well, with much cheaper going prices.

i know a lot of places in new york try to play off wild guppies as endlers. you've gotta really know who you're dealing with and know what you're looking for. i got mine off of aquabid, and they had babies within a few weeks. so it's not always a rip off. i also got free shipping. sometimes it's worth a look.

My problem is not in finding endler's locally (greater Cincinatti area), but in finding both males and females. It seems that the stores here only sell males.

But a lot more people, probably millions of times more, use guppies - and common feeder guppies look like Endler's, more or less. It's all too easy to get ripped off thinking you're buying Endler's when you're actually buying common guppies - not that guppies aren't cute enough in their own right, of course.
The chance of buying feeders and having them turn out to be Endler's is about as good as the chance of winning the lottery twice and then being struck by lightening. And the chance of them being pure Endler's, not crossed with guppies, might as well be 0.
