Obviously you know how to tell male from female, and will choose accordingly. Myself- I have been searching for Endlers as I would like to get some males and breed them into my Guppy population to widen, strengthen and diversify the genetic pool. I also would like to breed a blue tailed guppy with an endler colored body. I wouldnt be so worried about what people say, and that 1 inch per gallon rule is somewhat outdated as it doesnt apply to most fish anyway. You know your tank best and how it feels, be conservative and try 2 endlers, and if you think after a month or two that you have some room, add 1 or 2 more. Dont take it personally when people dont read posts- most of the time they only read the first and last replys anyway. Just ignore the lack of reading and take it with a grain of salt! As you know, they are small fish and while not schoolers IME they enjoy being in groups (I breed them in two tanks). Personally I'd try to stick with one livebearer...choose your favorite then get a group sized appropriately for your tank. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

So a tank full of endlers should be fine, if you get rid of the female guppy. I'm so adjective, I verb nouns! |

Even though the males are smaller I wouldn't go that many...I'm still of the opinion that I would stick to just guppies or endlers in a tank that small... Now if you got a larger tank Then you could have more...Go ahead, go out and get a larger tank... labrakitty Fish Addict Posts: 740 Kudos: 435 Votes: 9 Registered: 12-Nov-2004 | My guppy is a male. I want to get all males, so they don't breed. I don't want them to breed, and the males are prettier anyway. They don't fight so that is ok then. Could I get 1 more guppy, and 4 endlers? All male. So I will have: 2 guppies 4 endlers 3 platys 2 bristle nose catfish Would that be ok? All male guppies and endlers, the platys are female, can't tell with the fry yet, the bristle nose are both female. Thanks, Labrakitty |

Endlers are closely related to the guppy have read that they are kind of like wild guppies, so they will breed a lot like the guppies and overwhelm you I suppose... In other words either go guppies or endler's don't mix...happy choosing and let us know...Heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Thomas Carlyle |
