No do not cros them with guppies. Please keep those fish pure. Besides it's fun to watch all the new paterns grow in the juveniles.

I went back and got two more females and a male and a female today!

i have moved the guppies out to the 35G and now have the 6 endlers with the four platies and three mollies in the 25G

the guy at the LFS said that they could be treated just like guppies, i have java fern and "pond weed" floating, the tank is at 78'. i feed them flakes and granule food.

if they breed i am going to give the fry back to the guy hwo bred these, i found and printed off some stuff from the net for him and he was very suprised that they were so rare, i think i may have started something there!

good luck with finding yours

I know all about the guppy endler thing and trust me.. I won't cross breed them or put them in the same tank. I'll either get one or the other. I really <3 the Endlers though.

** Quick Question though. What do you guys use for food, plants in the tank, heat temperature, ect. i would like plants that are on the hardy side ( I have never had live plants in my tanks)

endlers aren't that rare, and even thou it cost a bit to get them, you figure you'll easly make back what u paid in under 3 months. i paid $27 total, shipping and all for 2 males and 6 females. if you wanna get them, get them soon before it starts to get cold, the colder it is the more it cost to ship them and the higher the risk.

I have a 10g Endler's tank. Found my males at a lfs, my females I ordered online from a breeder.

You could check if lfs would order them for you; often they only stock males though. Some lfs do get them in but they're sold quickly. If that's the case, perhaps you could find out if they'd notify you when a shipment arrives.

Definitely do an Endler's tank or a guppy tank, not mixed; they can cross-breed.

Then I shall go in search of endler's they sound really cool, I just can't find a lot of info on them though. I don't think I want to pay so much for them so I'll look for a local breeder (no shipping fees or DOAs)or at the LFS. If I can't find them I think I'll get guppies insted. I like both of them. So I'm trying to collect info on both of them.:%)

If they were in bad condition and just sort of looked like Endler's, they were probably feeder guppies - common guppies have the stray marks and bright colors (though usually different ones and not as intense) as Endler's.
Why not? They could still turn up locally, plus, the internet makes it pretty easy to get them. If you like them, go for it! Settling never made anyone happy, right?

My sister said that while looking in the fish department at petco she saw some, but she could have just thought she saw some though. She said that whatever they were they were in very bad condition. So maybe I should aim for guppies then?

Hey! This is my second new topic...so as you can tell I'm totally new. If you've read my other post by chance you might realize I'm looking for some new fish. I don't want big fish. I want small, colorful, quick moving fish. I looked up Endler's Livebearers online and I read about them. They sound like really cool fish to have, and they can be kept in really small tanks, which is a plus when you're in a small space that probably can't support a 55g tank or more (my budget can't support that eithr lol). So anyways how many Endlers could I keep happy in a ten gallon tank and no it wouldn't be the tank with Mollie, my black moor in it. If you know anything on this please give me a clue.

I got a pair today - i have never seen them in my LFS before, but one of the guys in there breeds them i think they are gorgeous. i have a male and a female - should i go back and get another female?

also should i keep them with Guppies? i am a bit worried about cross breeding ? i have been reading about how they are so rare and the problems with people mixing them. i would have thought they were abit small to cross? unless it happened with small guppy fry???

sorry Mollie moore didn't mean to hi jack your thread!

Okay, but that's really quite cheap for a rareish fish, and really cheap for shipping. Ask any betta person - a nice pair often goes for $50, and another $30-40 for overnight shipping. Endler's are cheap and available from my point of view.

Aquabid is only good if you really want to pay a whole lot for them. Cheapest I saw on there was $8 for 6 with $20 for shipping.

They're on Aquabid quite frequently, so they're really kinda easy to get, IME.

I've been trying to get some endler's for over a year with no luck whatsoever. Live aquaria only sells males by the way.

In case you don't know this already, Endlers are very rare fish. You must likely will not find them in any stores. But, if you're willing to pay the shipping costs, you can always order from an online company. Below are a couple sites that sell Endlers.

I'd say you could start with, say, two trios (1M, 2F) safely. (That is, start with 6 adults as a stock list, not as your cycling fish!) From there they'll happily breed and fill the tank up.
