Well I should be kicked in the bum, I have been breeding "guppies" for about a year now. SO I THOUGHT!!! Yes I have been a victim of dumb owner syndrome
They are accually "Snakeskin Endlers" I had never seen anything on this fish or heard about it, but know I realize why, they don't sell em here!!

Here I was thinking I had some freakishly nice guppies, to find out there not even guppies.

Well I guess I can sell them for a tad bit more then what I have been, seeing they are so rare here. Mine are a nice purple color for one batch and the other is more orange.

No wonder I liked em more then any other guppie I have ever owned.

My oh my......:%)

Wait - if they weren't sold to you as Endler's, it's very, very important not to assume they're Endler's. Guppies are quite variable as well as being closely related to Endler's; they can definitely mimic each other. And, many of the typically guppy-patterned Endler's are in fact hybrids.

There are probably a few hundred million guppies for every Endler on the planet, and every time someone decides some unidentified fish is an Endler because it looks like it could be, or sells them as Endler's because they'd pull a higher price, that ratio gets higher. I'd like my children and grandchildren to enjoy true, pure Endler's; please don't contribute to confusion and hybridization in this wonderful species.

I got them from someone who was from another part of the country, I just assumed they were guppies, until I found a few sites that explained the diffrence between the two.

Also I did quite a bit of reading, and looking at pictures, and I do belive that they are Endlers, I don't think selling the fry to my family and friends is bad at all, I don't think i'm ripping them off either the pay 1.00 for 25.

It's not like I am going to petstores and selling these to the public you made me sound like I don't care....

I also belive that breeding them and giving them to someone to enjoy is better then flushing them or feeding them to other fish..either way its saving and making fish.

IMO..

Its not the selling or giving thats the problem, its the selling or giving AS A SPECIFIC SPECIES, though, to be honest, pure species are few and far between anyhoo.

Just be sure you don't tout them as purebred endlers

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

Oh no by all means I hope it did not sound like I was breeding PB's, I am by no means telling these people they are top quality Endlers, I say this is either a guppie or an Endler if it is and endler, it is not a PB.

I make sure they understand that first and foremost.

BUT if anyone has REAL experience with these fish I would love to chat with you.

Also just a tidbit, The man who found these fish in the wild(Professor Endler of course), one of the first things he did was breed them with wild guppys, I don't belive he should have done that, that could be why everything is messed up in the first place. Messing up everything before breeding PB's.............oh well what can you do..

Thanks beforehand,
Angel Eel
