Do feeder guppies get as big as their fancy counterparts?

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

If by feeder guppies you mean rosy reds, they get to almost twice as big as the fancy guppies. Rosy reds get near four inches, vs. fancy guppies' two.

I think she means feeder guppies ... as in, common guppies that are sold as feeders.

They're both the same species - they both hit the same size. If anything I'd expect the feeders to get larger, since many overbred fancies are known for being a little on the small side.

Oh. I thought the reds were guppies. That's how they were labeled at a chain store near me. Grrrrr...]:|

Nope, Rosies are a color variety of Fathead Minnows, Pimephales promelas. They're cute fish, and underappreciated as pets and display animals. The same, I feel, is true of the common "feeder" guppy, the males of which can be gorgeous, in subtler colors than the similarly patterned Endler's Livebearer.

Thanks for the replies. I too, believe common guppies and rosy reds are underrated.
