Anybody had luck with keeping guppies with angels? I've been trying to find fish to add to my 150g tank and was wondering if guppies would work.

i know how guppies multiple, that i am not worried about as other tank occupants would help control the population

Adult angels will eat small guppies, much the same as they do small tetras. If they are less than say 3 inches high you might get away with it, but I would say thats a bad combination of fish if the intention is to keep them together permanently. Population control doesnt work, when its the adults that get eaten! you might just end up with no male guppies.

I have a large adult pair of scalare angels, and theyd eat guppies no problem.

I'd try to find larger ones. about the size of my zebra danios, which are about the same size of my neons (that are in a different tank) and they have no problems with the angels.

But its all just research as of now

Hi there,
I keep guppies in my tank with large angels and
discus and keyholes with no problems whatsoever.
The best part about keeping guppies in a large tank
with predatory fish is that you wont have to worry about baby guppies and the larger fish get fresh food regularly!
I have never found Angels to eat guppy size fish.

I think it all depends on the temperment of your angels, and especially if they are wild-caught, or tank-bred. I had a breeding-pair (well, the tried - it was a community tank) of angels, who were surrounded by guppies, neons and glowlights 24-hours a day, and none of them ever went missing.

These are tank bred from what i was told. And they are all pretty laid back, they only have issues they have is with each other.

as far as the babies they may shoot out, i have clown loaches and RTBS that scavange the bottom that would take them down.

Actually, i should be ok, now that I think about it, i have 2 rams (thats what they said they are) that are smaller than my zebras and the angels dont even give them a look

I've been able to keep larger guppies with my angels. Just make sure to keep plenty of plants incase the guppies ever need a place to hide.
